Hey, I’m Samm! I’m a twenty-something political professional, wife, and dog mom, not necessarily in that order. I’m passionate about my home state of Minnesota, as well as living a happy, creative, and whole life.
When I’m not blogging, you can find me hanging out with my best gal Lola on the couch watching Bravo for hours on end or perusing the aisles of my local Target. I love Starbucks but hate coffee, and I’m never t0o proud to have cereal for dinner. That says more about me than you’d think.
Since 2011, Dysfunctional Ever After has been my blog, therapy, entertainment, and creative outlet. What started as a way to keep my friends and family up to date on my wedding planning, quickly became one of my most vital creative and emotional outlets. Now it’s a serious part-time gig for me, and I couldn’t be happier.
When I graduated college (shout out to Bethel University!) and started working in political campaigns and government, I made the mistake of seeing my blog as a liability rather than the safe place it once was. I’ve since come to the realization that Dysfunctional Ever After is and always will be a safe place, as long as I stay honest and authentic. I realized that everyone has their shit. Everyone. But not everyone has the courage (or, maybe lack of self-awareness) to put it all out on the table for other people to see and relate to. I do, and I love writing about what it means to “grow up” in this world. I love writing about what my experiences are as a wife, professional, dog mom, hopeful human mom, and home owner. I write about the good, the bad, and the ugly because I am of the firm belief that life would be a whole lot easier if we all stopped pretending our life is what appears on Facebook, Instagram, and the like, and started being honest with each other instead.
None of us are alone in this. So let’s grab some champagne, do a twirl, and get on with it.
